Lula hands over 576 Minha Casa homes in Manaus, benefitting over 2,000 families
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva attended a ceremony in Manaus on 26 May to deliver 576 residential units of the "Residencial Morar Melhor" project, built under the federal Minha Casa, Minha Vida housing programme.
The development, located in the Tarumã‑Açu neighbourhood, comprises three modules of 192 apartments each, with an average size of about 50 m². It was financed with R$ 92.16 million from the Fund for Residential Leasing (FAR) and includes communal facilities such as libraries, a community centre, commercial spaces, barbecue areas and a sports court. Infrastructure for water, sewage, electricity, lighting, drainage and paved roads was also completed. The project is expected to serve more than two thousand residents, with nearby schools, creches and a health unit.
Officials present included the Minister of the Civil House, Miriam Belchior, and the Minister of Cities, Vladimir Lima, alongside federal, state and municipal representatives.
