Lundin Mining and AJ. Mendes Deploy Electric Trucks in Brazil’s Mining Sector

Lundin Mining Brazil has integrated a 100 % electric JAC Motors iEV1200T truck into operations at its Chapada mine in Alto Horizonte, Goiás. The partnership with Zero Carbon Logistics replaces diesel trucks, cutting up to 30,000 kg of CO₂ annually and reducing noise. Operations began at the end of May, and Operations Director Cleiber Rezende said the low‑emission technology strengthens a responsible production chain.

AJ. Mendes completed operational tests of a Sany 6 × 4 electric haul truck from 21 May to 20 June. The trial showed roughly an 84 % reduction in energy consumption compared with diesel, lower CO₂ emissions, and noticeably less noise and vibration. The company plans to evaluate electric trucks for fleet renewal starting in 2027.
