Luxembourg Deputy PM Xavier Bettel visits India for official talks

Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel is conducting a three-day official visit to India from September 7 to September 9. During his stay, Bettel met with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi to discuss strengthening multifaceted bilateral relations.

Key areas of discussion included trade, investment, financial cooperation, supply chain resilience, and diversification. The leaders also explored collaboration in emerging sectors such as space, digital technology, green technologies, fintech, and artificial intelligence. Jaishankar expressed gratitude for Luxembourg’s support regarding the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA), noting that its ratification could open ‘new horizons’ for the partnership.

Bettel’s itinerary includes a trip to Chennai, where he is scheduled to visit the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras campus and the IIT Madras Research Park, as well as inaugurating a new campus for the Luxembourg-based company SES.
