Luxembourg FM praises India’s diplomacy in Russia-Ukraine war

Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Xavier Bettel has commended India’s pragmatic approach to the Russia-Ukraine war. Bettel highlighted New Delhi’s unique diplomatic position, specifically noting External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s recent visits to both Moscow and Kyiv as evidence of a commitment to bridge-building.

Bettel remarked that while most nations choose a side, India’s dual outreach demonstrates a desire to listen to both parties to find solutions. He emphasized that India’s interventions serve broader global interests, such as maintaining Black Sea trade routes and ensuring food security, noting that India appears to act without significant commercial interests at stake.

Additionally, Bettel expressed concerns regarding growing economic and security disruptions in West Asia and stressed that Europe must have a seat at any future peace negotiations to avoid bearing the brunt of the consequences.
