Luxor to host Egypt's first and largest medical cyclotron unit

The Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity has announced final arrangements for the opening of the first and largest medical cyclotron unit at Shefa Al-Orman Hospital in Luxor. This facility is designed to produce short-lived radioactive isotopes essential for high-precision medical diagnosis and cancer treatment.

As the first unit of its kind in Upper Egypt, the cyclotron will enhance nuclear medicine capabilities in the region, allowing for earlier tumor detection and more effective treatment monitoring. The project is a collaborative effort involving the Al-Orman Association, the Shefa Al-Orman Foundation, and the National Bank of Egypt.

Officials noted that the initiative aims to ensure advanced medical technology is accessible to citizens regardless of their geographic location or financial status, positioning Luxor as a growing center for medical science and technology in southern Egypt.
