Luxury cruise operators expand presence on European rivers

Celebrity Cruises is expanding its brand into the luxury river cruising market, introducing custom-designed vessels to major European waterways including the Rhine, Danube, and Seine. The new fleet aims to translate the brand’s ocean-inspired design, such as the Infinite Veranda staterooms, to an intimate river setting. The service will feature destination-focused gourmet dining and continued benefits for Captain’s Club loyalty members.

Separately, Riverside Luxury Cruises is expanding its offerings on the Danube, specifically targeting cycling enthusiasts. The operator plans to host 14-night sailing voyages in 2027 that allow guests to cycle over 650 km along the river. Utilizing the Riverside Mozart, described as one of the widest luxury ships on the Danube, the program offers both personal bicycle storage and e-bike rentals for travelers.
