Luxury tourism shifts toward wellness and younger travelers
The luxury tourism sector is undergoing a significant transformation driven by wellness, longevity, and shifting demographics. At the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) summit in Malta, industry leaders highlighted a growing trend toward health-centric stays. High-end hotels are increasingly integrating advanced technologies, such as PNOE’s respiratory analysis systems and HPO Tech’s hyperbaric oxygen chambers, to support physical recovery and healthy aging.
Simultaneously, the profile of the premium traveler is changing. Data from Trip.com indicates a notable rejuvenation in the French market, where travelers under 35 are increasingly booking luxury services. In France, the 18-34 age group accounts for over 40% of first-class and five-star hotel bookings for the second half of 2026, significantly higher than global averages. These younger travelers tend to take fewer but longer and more distant trips, with average stays reaching approximately 22.7 days.
