Luzon Economic Corridor expands to 13 partners with EU and Spain

The Luzon Economic Corridor (LEC) has expanded to a 13-country coalition following the addition of Spain and the European Union. Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go announced the new partners during the inaugural LEC Investment Forum in Taguig.

Originally launched by the Philippines, the United States, and Japan, the coalition now includes Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the EU. The initiative aims to accelerate strategic infrastructure investments and strengthen supply chains across key hubs in Luzon, including Subic Bay, Clark, Metro Manila, and Batangas.

The European Union is aligning its €60-million Green Economy Programme and €20-million Digital Economy Package with LEC priorities, focusing on renewable energy, digital connectivity, and innovation. Spain intends to contribute expertise in sectors such as railways, aviation, shipbuilding, and modular infrastructure.
