Chinese automakers expand presence in Argentina via Expo Auto Chino

The Expo Auto Chino 2026 in Buenos Aires highlighted the rapid expansion of Chinese automotive manufacturers in Argentina. Market data indicates that Chinese brands' share of the local market has grown from approximately 1% to 10% in two years.

Omoda & Jaecoo, brands under the Chery Group, announced their intention to establish a direct presence in Argentina as a subsidiary rather than through intermediaries. They showcased electrified models including the Omoda 5 (hybrid and electric) and the Jaecoo 7 (plug-in hybrid).

Other significant developments include Lynk & Co expanding its lineup with the 900 plug-in hybrid SUV, and JAC Motors presenting various models including the JS8 Pro and the T9 pick-up, with plans to introduce hybrid and electric versions of the T9 to the local market. Additionally, the arrival of Higer for urban transport and Linktour for urban electric mobility was anticipated.
