Lyon court sentences man for damaging Netflix film set

A man in his forties has been sentenced to six months of prison, to be served under electronic monitoring, by a Lyon court following an incident at a Netflix film set. The incident occurred during the night of August 15-16 in the Vieux-Lyon district during the filming of a biopic about the Klarsfeld couple, directed by Yvan Attal.

According to reports, the intoxicated individual breached security barriers to enter the production zone, claiming he was merely looking for a place to sleep. During the intrusion, he caused significant damage to production equipment. The production company, NAC Films, has estimated the damages at 26,000 euros, a figure that may increase.

In addition to the property damage, the man was charged with directing racist insults and spitting at a security guard who attempted to remove him from the site. The defendant, who has a prior criminal record for similar incidents, argued in court that he was not racist, citing his employer's background. The court ultimately handed down the suspended prison sentence via electronic bracelet.
