Film production equipment incidents in Lyon
Overview
Incidents involving damage and theft of film production equipment have been reported in Lyon.
In one case, a 25-year-old Libyan national was arrested following a series of thefts in Lyon and its suburbs that began last autumn. The suspect is accused of stealing equipment valued at over one million euros, including a theft in the Croix-Rousse district where a production truck was broken into, resulting in losses of approximately 720,000 euros. Investigators recovered seven camera lenses during a search of a storage unit.
Separately, a man in his forties was sentenced to six months of prison under electronic monitoring after an intrusion at a Netflix film set in the Vieux-Lyon district. The individual, who was intoxicated, breached security barriers during the filming of a biopic and caused an estimated 26,000 euros in damage to production equipment. He was also charged with directing racist insults and spitting at a security guard.
