Lyon police arrest suspect in million-euro film equipment theft

Police in Lyon have arrested a 25-year-old man suspected of stealing film production equipment valued at over one million euros. The thefts occurred in Lyon and its suburbs starting last autumn.

One notable incident took place in early April in the Croix-Rousse district, where a production truck for a series was broken into, resulting in losses estimated at 720,000 euros. During a search of a storage unit, investigators discovered seven camera lenses that matched those stolen in April.

The suspect, a Libyan national, was apprehended on August 4 on the A6 motorway near Taponas. He has been placed in pre-trial detention and has a prior conviction for similar offenses in 2024.
