MA63 implementation drives focus on education and youth leadership in Sabah and Sarawak

Regional leaders in Sabah and Sarawak are emphasizing the importance of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) in shaping the future of the nation and state-level development.

In Melaka, Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III Ewon Benedick urged university students to understand the history of Malaysia's formation and the MA63. He noted that the younger generation will inherit the responsibility of resolving ongoing negotiations between the Federal Government and the states of Sabah and Sarawak regarding their rights.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Deputy Premier Awang Tengah Ali Hasan raised critical education needs during a recent MTPMA63 meeting in Kota Kinabalu. He advocated for improved educational infrastructure, increased staffing to reflect Sarawak's vast geography, and greater autonomy for the Sarawak Education Director. Sarawak is also seeking flexibility in language use to support STEM and TVET sectors.
