Macedonia advances Skopje‑Blace highway with EBRD backing and invites Turkish firms

Vice‑Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski met with EBRD Office Director Fatih Turkmenoglu to discuss the Skopje‑Blace highway, a key corridor linking Macedonia with Kosovo and Montenegro. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development confirmed that a consortium led by the local construction firm Granite has been selected as the project's executor, with the aim of eventually handing the work to a domestic company.

In a separate meeting in Istanbul, Nikoloski and Trade Minister Omer Bolat welcomed Turkish transport companies to participate in Macedonia’s international tenders. The talks emphasized deepening economic ties, boosting trade, and attracting investment to support the country’s extensive infrastructure upgrade programme, which Nikoloski described as the largest investment cycle in Macedonian history.
