Macedonia and Turkey seal new direct Ankara‑Skopje flight and cargo rail link

Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikolovski met Turkish Trade Minister Omer Bolat and Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uraloglu during a business forum in Istanbul. The talks produced agreements to launch a direct Ankara‑Skopje airline service operated by AJet and to establish a cargo railway connection between Turkey’s state railway (TCDD) and Macedonia’s MŽ Infrastructure, aimed at boosting bilateral trade to $2 billion. Nikolovski said the direct flights and rail cooperation will "give a significant contribution to trade, investment and connectivity" between the two countries.

In a separate meeting, Macedonian Prime Minister Christian Mikovski and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed their commitment to a favourable business climate for Turkish investment and new jobs in Macedonia. They discussed expanding cooperation across infrastructure, energy, tourism, education and defence, highlighting the strategic partnership that underpins the transport projects.
