Macedonia arrests six suspects in family violence cases and a casino assault

Police in Macedonia detained six individuals after eight reports of family violence were filed in Štip, Ohrid, Debar, Kumanovo, Veles and Skopje between 16‑17 June 2026. Arrests followed complaints that fathers, mothers, spouses and other relatives had physically attacked family members, causing injuries and property damage. The suspects were taken to police stations for further investigation and potential prosecution.

In a separate incident on 18 June 2026, authorities in Gostivar arrested 54‑year‑old M. R. after he assaulted his father and son inside a casino, using a metal object and pepper spray. The Ministry of Interior confirmed his detention and said a formal complaint will be filed after full documentation of the case.
