North Macedonia police detain five suspects in domestic‑violence cases

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that police detained five individuals on suspicion of domestic violence during the past 24 hours. The arrests were made in several municipalities, including Tetovo, Probistip, Kichevo, Skopje, Bitola, Kriva Palanka and Negotino. Reports involved threats with a knife, physical assaults with fists or objects, and repeated abuse of spouses, partners or family members.

Specific incidents cited included a 36‑year‑old man in Tetovo who allegedly threatened his mother with a knife, a 42‑year‑old man in Berovo accused of attacking his wife, and a 20‑year‑old man in Kavadarci charged with assaulting his girlfriend. Additional detentions involved alleged assaults in Skopje and Bitola, as well as threats made against a 55‑year‑old mother in Skopje. All detainees were taken to police stations, informed of the public prosecutor, and further legal action will follow after documentation of the cases.

The ministry said measures are being taken to clear the cases and that appropriate charges will be filed once investigations are completed.
