Macedonia interior minister Panche Toskovski sees traffic death decline, faces opposition security criticism

Interior Minister Panche Toskovski reported that the "Safe City" system, launched in February, reduced traffic fatalities by 40% in its first five months, with 33 deaths compared with 55 in the same period last year, and logged more than 120,000 traffic violations, over 95% of which involved speeding.

The opposition SDSM condemned Toskovski’s two‑year tenure, alleging a complete breakdown of the security system, partisanisation of the police and a lack of accountability for crimes such as murders, armed attacks, domestic violence, drug trafficking and the Kocani tragedy, stating that promises of justice have gone unfulfilled.
