Macedonian police detain four people in family‑violence arrests

During the night of 20‑21 June 2026, police in North Macedonia arrested four individuals in connection with five family‑violence reports filed in Štip, Gostivar and Skopje.

At about 01:20 a.m. in Štip, officers from the local police unit detained 37‑year‑old S.E. after a complaint that he had physically assaulted his wife. Thirty‑five minutes later, at 01:35 a.m., officers in Gostivar took 51‑year‑old M.S. into custody for a similar allegation of assaulting his spouse.

In Skopje, at 01:40 a.m., 33‑year‑old S.M. was arrested following an accusation by his 31‑year‑old wife that he had behaved aggressively and attempted to strike her with a blunt object. Later that day, at 17:30 a.m., a 33‑year‑old woman was detained after her 36‑year‑old husband, with whom she is undergoing divorce proceedings, reported that she had been aggressive and threatening. The same woman reported at 23:30 p.m. that she had been physically attacked by the same husband, who used a hard object. Finally, at 03:00 a.m. on 21 June, a 30‑year‑old woman reported that she and her former partner had been physically assaulted during a dispute the previous evening.

The Ministry of Interior said the cases are being fully documented and appropriate charges will be filed against the perpetrators.
