Macedonia prosecutors open domestic violence cases against father and other man

The public prosecutor’s office in Skopje has initiated two separate criminal investigations for severe domestic violence. The first case targets a 56‑year‑old father accused of long‑term psychological and physical abuse of his wife and their two children, aged 18 and 15. The teenage daughter attempted suicide after enduring threats and assaults from her father.

The second case involves a 33‑year‑old man who, on 20 June, dragged his wife into a vehicle, threatened her with a glass bottle, and inflicted bodily injury when she tried to escape. Prosecutors have asked the court to impose multiple protective measures, including a ban on leaving the residence, mandatory reporting to the court, temporary confiscation of the offender’s vehicle, and restraining orders prohibiting any contact or proximity to the victims or their frequent locations.
