Macedonia purchases 49 hygiene vehicles for Skopje and municipalities

Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski announced that the Macedonian government will buy 49 multi‑purpose vehicles for street cleaning and waste collection in Skopje and 72 surrounding municipalities. The acquisition, funded by the World Bank, costs about €4.2 million and includes 17 multifunctional urban‑hygiene vehicles, 2 specialized units, 9 specialized trucks and 21 street‑cleaning machines.

The purchase is part of a broader local‑roads programme run from June 2024 to June 2026, with contracts worth €25.3 million for the rehabilitation of 96 streets across 72 municipalities, covering roughly 103 km of road. The project is co‑financed by the European Union’s ELFS fund and the World Bank, aiming to improve both infrastructure and public hygiene conditions.
