The Macedonian Assembly approved a new Law on Civil Procedure with 81 votes in favour, nine against and no abstentions. The legislation aims to modernise the country's justice system and align it with European standards.
Key provisions include strengthening the courts' role in establishing facts, introducing digital tools for case management, enabling electronic service of documents and remote hearings, and simplifying and accelerating low‑value disputes. The law also creates representative actions to protect collective interests and introduces proportionate sanctions to improve procedural efficiency.
