Macedonian border town Dojran faces kilometer‑long traffic jam to Greece

A kilometer‑long line of vehicles heading for the Greek border has blocked the regional road at the Dojran crossing in northern Macedonia. The standstill, which lasted about four hours, was confirmed by the Macedonian police unit in Dojran. Officials said the congestion was caused by an overwhelming number of cars that Greek authorities could not accommodate, forcing the queue to spill over onto the Macedonian side and reach the St. Elijah church at the entrance to Stari Dojran.

The police added that the area around the Bogorodica crossing and other nearby points such as Tabanci and Blace are also experiencing heavy traffic. The surge is typical for the start of the week when travel arrangements for the upcoming holiday period begin, but the volume has been unusually high in the last two weeks of July and early August as many citizens travel for their annual vacations.
