Macedonian Government Takes Over Repair of Teferec Road in Kisele Voda

Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski announced that the state will manage the repair of the road leading to the settlement of Teferec in the Kisele Voda municipality. A detailed stabilization and reconstruction project has already been prepared, and a public tender for a construction firm is expected to be published next week. Once a contractor is selected, work is slated to begin within a month and be completed before the start of winter.

The road collapsed at the end of February, prompting an indefinite closure to traffic. Earlier repairs were carried out in May of the previous year, but local authorities – the Kisele Voda municipality and the city of Skopje – lack the financial resources and equipment to address the complex hazard, leading the central government to intervene.

Nikoloski emphasized the seriousness of the “large, exceptionally serious problem” and said the government’s decision was taken in a recent cabinet meeting, ensuring that the entire project will be overseen by the Ministry of Transport.
