Macedonian Interior Minister Panche Toskovski Defends Ministry Amid Levica Allegations

The opposition Levica party accuses the Ministry of Interior, led by Panche Toskovski, of failing to investigate a alleged criminal case linked to the supervision firm overseeing Bechtel and Enka projects. Levica claims the firm, formerly involved in a major infrastructure contract, has been subject to suspected million‑dollar irregularities, high fees for expert engineers (up to €20,000 a month) and negotiators (up to €300,000), and a recent ownership change to Electra Solutions, now owned by Bojan Saveski, identified as a former collaborator of former prime minister Koco Trajanovski.

In response, Interior Minister Toskovski rejected calls for his resignation, citing statistical evidence that the ministry has achieved its best results in two years and the lowest overall crime rates in the past twenty years. He highlighted a 67.2 % detection rate – the highest in two decades – and emphasized new measures against family violence and other crimes. Toskovski framed the opposition’s demands as personal attacks and warned that continued resistance could cost the party parliamentary seats.
