The Macedonian government announced a record allocation of more than €1 billion for health services in the 2026 budget, part of a broader fiscal rebalancing. Prime Minister Christian Mičkosi highlighted the spending during a visit to the Bitola Clinical Hospital, saying the aim is a full renovation and upgraded equipment, apparatus and staffing.

The budget rebalancing raises capital expenditures by 14.5% to roughly 46 billion denars, with total revenues projected to rise 1.2% to 379.5 billion denars and the deficit reaching 4.1% of GDP. Funds are earmarked for municipal and infrastructure projects, environmental upgrades, and transport, including a €74 million investment for the Tetovo Clinical Hospital and preparations for a new hospital in Kërçovë. The health sector will also receive 300 new specialists and 300 new doctors, while €5.4 million is set aside to create over 1,300 new jobs.
