Macedonia's fast railway Corridor 10 slated to start construction this autumn

Prime Minister Christian Mikovski said that the feasibility and environmental‑impact studies for the fast railway along Corridor 10 are expected to be completed by July. Once the studies are finished, the government will propose the necessary legislation to parliament, after which construction could begin in the autumn under a "golden FIDIC" contract.

The project is part of a strategic partnership with the United Kingdom; representatives of UK Export Finance have been meeting Macedonian officials about financing. Mikovski denied opposition claims that the agreement would entail migrant intake. He also highlighted recent IMF data showing a rise in Macedonia's nominal GDP and lower debt compared with the previous administration. Opposition parties continue to criticize the government over budget deficits and alleged high‑cost tenders.
