Macedonia's Prime Minister says Greece gas link to be finished early next year

Prime Minister Christian Miccocski announced that the natural‑gas interconnector between North Macedonia and Greece is expected to be completed in the first half of next year, with full synchronization of the two national gas systems targeted for the first quarter of that year. The project is being funded entirely with domestic resources, without loans, grants or external donations.

Miccocski also noted that three additional pipeline projects are being restarted: a line linking Veles and Štip, a line connecting Gostivar with Kičevo, and a segment extending toward the border with Kosovo. The continuation of works on the Kosovo section will be decided by the Kosovar authorities.

A meeting in the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry involved Macedonian minister Sanja Bozhinovska, NOMAGAS CEO Nedim Rama, and Greek transmission operator DESFA’s executive Maria Sferuca. The discussion highlighted the joint commitment to meet the agreed timeline and emphasized the broader “Vertical Gas Corridor” initiative aimed at strengthening regional energy security and integrating national markets into larger European gas networks.
