Macedonia's Transport Minister Nikoloski Announces New Express Road Projects and Turkey Partnership

Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski said Macedonia is entering a new phase of infrastructure investment. He announced tenders for the design studies of the Kocani‑Vinica‑Delčevo and Radoviš‑Strumica express roads, adding that these projects will improve regional connectivity and support economic growth.

Nikoloski also outlined further works, including the Kumanovo‑Stracin expressway, the electrified cargo bypass Drachvo‑Miladinovci, and the upcoming fast‑rail section of Corridor 10 from Kumanovo to Gevgelija. The government plans to award the Skopje‑Blace motorway contract to the Granite consortium, a €200 million project backed by the EBRD.

In parallel, he highlighted a strategic partnership with Turkey aimed at doubling bilateral trade to $2 billion. A direct Ankara‑Skopje flight will start on 2 July, and a new cargo rail link is expected to strengthen logistics. These initiatives are presented as part of a broader effort to position Macedonia as a key Balkan transport hub.
