Macedonia's Deputy PM Nikoloski advances Skopje‑Blace highway at Thessaloniki transport summit

Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski attended the Transport Investment Summit in Thessaloniki, where he met Kosovo’s Infrastructure Minister Dimal Basha. Both officials highlighted the planned Skopje‑Blace highway as a key link to boost trade, mobility and economic growth between Macedonia and Kosovo. Nikoloski said the project will improve safety, speed up cargo movement and deepen regional cooperation.

At the same summit, Nikoloski addressed a panel on expanding the TEN‑T network, stressing the importance of coordinated investment in corridors 8 and 10 across the Western Balkans. He also held bilateral talks with Serbia’s Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Aleksandra Sofronijević and other regional ministers. Sofronijević reiterated Serbia’s commitment to transport projects, including the completion of the railway Corridor X segment that runs from Serbia through Macedonia to Greece. The gathering, co‑organized by Greece, the European Investment Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, aimed to align donor support and encourage public‑private partnerships for resilient, greener transport infrastructure in the region.
