Macedonia's Veles and Dojran wildfires partially contained

Multiple open‑space fires broke out across Macedonia, with the largest incidents near the towns of Veles and Dojran. In Veles, the blaze originated in the Kalaslari area toward Sveti Nikola and was brought under partial control by local firefighters supported by a National Forests team and an air‑tractor from the Directorate for Protection and Rescue.

The Dojran fire erupted on the Macedonian‑Greek border, spreading toward both countries before volunteers and fire crews established partial control. Authorities expect full containment by night. Director Stojanche Angelov warned that the fire season began earlier than usual, urged residents to exercise extreme caution, and announced that the government would declare a crisis situation for fire response starting the next day.
