Macerata health authority opens day clinic and debates night staffing cuts at Recanati emergency unit

The Azienda Socio Sanitaria (AST) of Macerata launched a temporary day‑time ambulatory at the Casa della Comunità in San Severino on 3 August, aiming to fill the primary‑care gap left by the retirement of Dr Patrizia Caciorgna. The clinic operates Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10:00‑16:00 and Wednesday from 14:00‑20:00 throughout August, providing visits, prescriptions and continuity of care. Dr Alessandro Marini, AST’s director, highlighted the measure as an immediate response to residents’ health needs.

At the same time, AST is reportedly considering eliminating medical presence during night hours (20:00‑08:00) at the Punto di Primo Intervento (emergency triage unit) in Recanati. Under the proposed plan, only a nurse would remain on site to triage patients and contact on‑call physicians or emergency services. No official decision has been announced, and local officials, including Health Assessor Paolo Calcinaro and Mayor Pepa, have expressed surprise and requested clarification.
