Macerata political dispute erupts over landfill site selection

Political tensions have escalated in Macerata regarding the selection of a site for a new waste disposal facility. Former Democratic Party (PD) deputy Mario Morgoni has responded to accusations from Luca Buldorini, Vice President of the Province, regarding the ranking of potential landfill sites.

Morgoni claims that the PD had requested adherence to a ranking established by Politecnica delle Marche based on guidelines from the assembly of mayors. He alleges that the ranking was unilaterally altered for political and electoral convenience, placing smaller, politically opposing municipalities at the top of the list. Morgoni further criticized the process, stating that the motion to change the ranking was presented hastily without being distributed to mayors for review.

Conversely, Buldorini has suggested that the PD's previous positions would have resulted in the facility being located in the provincial capital, Macerata. Morgoni countered this by stating that while rankings can be modified, such changes must be conducted through transparent, objective, and shared consultation, as seen in previous instances.
