Macerata province ranks 19th in Italy’s sportivity index, excelling in volleyball and paralympic sports

Macerata province has been confirmed as the most sporting province in the Marche region, placing 19th out of 107 Italian provinces in the 20th edition of the Sportivity Index compiled by Pts Sport for Il Sole 24 Ore. The ranking highlights the province’s strong performance in paralympic sports, where it ranks third nationally, and in volleyball, driven by clubs such as Lube Volley and CBF Balducci HR Volley.

The province also scores highly on several other indicators: second place for the “Teams and Territory” metric, fifth for the number of amateur football teams in Serie D and Eccellenza, and 11th for female participation. Over €14 million has been invested in sports facilities in recent years, a policy highlighted by the provincial sports assessor Riccardo Sacchi, who says the funding has improved both infrastructure and the overall quality of sport in the area.
