Macon, Georgia: 12 teenagers wounded in park shootout

Twelve teenagers were wounded in a shootout at Carolyn Crayton Park in Macon, Georgia, early Sunday morning. The incident occurred shortly after midnight following a birthday celebration that had originally been held at a nearby Airbnb rental. After being asked to leave the rental property, a group of young people relocated to the park, where they encountered a second group.

According to Bibb County Sheriff David Davis, the two groups exchanged words and brandished firearms before a shootout erupted, lasting approximately 30 seconds. The victims, ranging in age from 17 to 19, included five 17-year-old males, four 18-year-old males, two 18-year-old females, and one 19-year-old male. Two victims—a 17-year-old male and an 18-year-old male—were reported to be in critical but stable condition, while the others were listed as stable.

Many victims arrived at a local medical facility in personal vehicles before emergency responders reached the scene, causing a temporary lockdown of the hospital's emergency room due to the influx of people. Investigators have interviewed approximately ten witnesses and impounded seven vehicles for forensic analysis. The FBI is assisting local authorities with the ongoing investigation. As of Sunday, no arrests have been made, though police have identified several persons of interest.
