A mass shooting occurred at Carolyn Crayton Park in Macon, Georgia, during a large gathering following a birthday party. The incident, which took place around midnight, reportedly began after an argument escalated between party attendees and another group that arrived at the park.

New details indicate the group had been celebrating an 18th birthday at a nearby Airbnb in Jones County before being asked to leave. Upon relocating to the park, a confrontation occurred between the original group and a second group. Bibb County Sheriff David Davis stated the groups exchanged words and brandished firearms before a shootout erupted, lasting approximately 30 seconds.

The number of wounded teenagers has risen to 12, with ages ranging from 17 to 19. The victims include five 17-year-old males, four 18-year-old males, two 18-year-old females, and one 19-year-old male. Two males, aged 17 and 18, were reported to be in critical but stable condition, while the others remained stable. The influx of victims arriving at a local medical facility in personal vehicles necessitated a temporary lockdown of the hospital’s emergency room.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident with assistance from the FBI. While several persons of interest have been identified and seven vehicles have been impounded for forensic testing, no arrests have been made. Investigators have interviewed approximately ten witnesses.
