Madeira experiences 111 weather-related incidents due to Storm Bruna

The Regional Civil Protection Service in Madeira reported 111 occurrences related to adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Bruna between 08:00 and 23:00 on November 7. The incidents included 47 fallen trees, 28 floods, 16 road cleanings, 8 mass movements, and several structural collapses or electrical network failures.

Emergency response efforts involved 220 personnel and 88 technical units across multiple municipalities, with Funchal recording the highest number of incidents at 55. In Santa Cruz, five residents from Santo António da Serra were displaced from their homes and taken in by relatives.

Significant road closures were implemented, including the ER107-1 access road to Eira do Serrado, the forest road connecting Eira do Serrado to Pico do Areeiro, and several roads in Câmara de Lobos and Ribeira Brava. High winds have complicated the removal of fallen trees and debris.
