Madeira official seeks economic cooperation in Venezuela

Sancho Gomes, the Regional Director of Communities and External Cooperation for Madeira, met with officials at the Portuguese Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela, to discuss strengthening bilateral ties. The discussions focused on economic and educational cooperation, municipal twinning, and increasing the region's involvement in diaspora affairs.

Gomes expressed gratitude for the Embassy's support of the Portuguese and Madeiran communities following the earthquakes on June 27, specifically noting health initiatives conducted in collaboration with the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) in La Guaira.

Regarding economic development, the meeting highlighted opportunities for Madeiran and Portuguese entrepreneurs in Venezuela. A Portuguese business mission, organized by the Portuguese Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade Promotion (AICEP) in coordination with the State Secretariat for Portuguese Communities, is currently being prepared. Companies from Madeira's technology and construction sectors have already expressed interest in participating.
