Madeira solidarity gala supports earthquake victims in Venezuela

Sancho Gomes, the Regional Director of Communities and External Cooperation, participated in the third ‘Madeira Solidária’ Gala in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. The event, organized by the Academia do Bacalhau with support from the Madeira Regional Government, aimed to raise funds for Portuguese and Madeiran families affected by earthquakes in Venezuela on June 24.

During his official visit to Venezuela, Gomes highlighted the solidarity of the Madeiran diaspora and the essential role of associative institutions. He noted that the Madeira Regional Government mobilized a total of 180,000 euros in financial support, with 150,000 euros transferred directly to social and associative institutions to ensure rapid assistance and bypass bureaucratic delays in the reconstruction of lives.
