Madeline Daly pleads guilty to murdering 11-month-old son

Madeline Veronique Daly, 36, has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of her 11-month-old son, Basil Stoner. The incident occurred in December 2025 in a rural area of New Mexico.

Prosecutors stated that Daly kidnapped the infant and fatally shot him with a 9mm handgun to prevent his father from exercising shared custody. The shooting took place inside a motorhome while law enforcement officers were attempting to serve an arrest warrant related to kidnapping charges in Wyoming.

Daly, a resident of Worland, Wyoming, faces a potential life sentence in the New Mexico Department of Corrections as part of a plea agreement. Judge Tom F. Stewart has scheduled a separate sentencing hearing following a review of the case details.
