Madhya Pradesh CM assures compensation for flood losses
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has assured full government compensation for individuals who suffered loss of life, livestock, or property due to recent heavy rainfall in the Rewa, Shahdol, and Jabalpur divisions. While water levels in rivers have fallen and residents are returning from relief camps, the Chief Minister warned of another heavy rain cycle expected between August 24 and August 27.
In Rewa district, local administration has begun damage assessment and restoration efforts as waterlogging recedes. Collector Narendra Kumar Suryavanshi has ordered field staff to complete surveys of damage to houses and crops within three days to facilitate relief distribution. Local authorities have also been directed to prioritize sanitation, repair damaged infrastructure, restore power lines, and organize health camps to prevent monsoon-related illnesses.
