Madhya Pradesh Congress alleges corruption over child deaths
Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari has accused the state government of corruption and administrative negligence following reports of child deaths in Chhindwara linked to cough syrup. While reports vary, Patwari noted that 26 children have died, though some claims suggest the number could be as high as 100.
Patwari alleged that the Congress party had repeatedly warned the administration about potential dangers, but the government failed to take action. He has demanded an impartial investigation into the incidents in Balaghat and Chhindwara and called for accountability and assistance for the affected families.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Balaghat on October 1 to meet with families of deceased children in the tribal areas of Baihar and Birsa. This marks Gandhi's second visit to the state in 15 days, following his recent trip to Indore.
