Madhya Pradesh flood rescue teams save hundreds amid heavy monsoon rains

Heavy monsoon rains in Madhya Pradesh have triggered flooding and rising water levels in rivers and drains, prompting large-scale rescue operations across several districts. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav reported that relief and rescue teams have saved 527 lives so far as the state manages the impact of the rainfall.

On August 10, emergency response teams, including the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) and Home Guards, rescued 98 people in a single day. Notable operations included the rescue of a pregnant woman and her family in Sehore, 15 laborers in Vidisha, and 19 residents in Bhopal after a dam wall breach caused water to flood residential areas. In Khandwa, three pilgrims were saved from a strong river current at Omkareshwar.

Authorities are monitoring the situation closely, particularly in low-lying areas and settlements near riverbanks. Officials have urged residents in high-risk zones to remain cautious and seek assistance from neighboring districts if necessary.
