Madhya Pradesh issued heavy rainfall alerts across multiple districts
A heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Madhya Pradesh as the monsoon season approaches its conclusion. An older depression in the Bay of Bengal has strengthened into an effective weather system, triggering a new round of intense precipitation across the state.
The meteorological department has issued an orange alert for extremely heavy rainfall in 13 districts, including Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Damoh, Umaria, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Mandla, Chhindwara, Seoni, and Balaghat. Additionally, 16 other districts, such as Bhind, Datia, and Sagar, are under warning for heavy rain. Some areas may experience rainfall exceeding 4 inches.
This surge in activity occurs just days before the typical monsoon withdrawal period, which usually concludes by September 30. While the system is expected to remain active through September 27, a gradual decrease in rainfall is anticipated thereafter. Current seasonal data shows that Madhya Pradesh has recorded approximately 873.4 mm of rain so far, which is about 2.4 inches below the normal seasonal average.
