Madhya Pradesh monsoon flooding submerges Satna and Chitrakoot
Heavy monsoon rains in Madhya Pradesh have caused severe flooding in several districts, particularly in Satna and Chitrakoot. In Chitrakoot, the Mandakini River has risen above the danger mark, flooding the Ramghat area and submerging approximately 400 shops and 25 hotels.
In Satna, the flooding has disrupted daily life, with water entering homes, shops, and even the local BJP office. The inundation of the political office has drawn criticism from PCC Chief Jitu Patwari, who mocked the state government's development claims via social media.
Local authorities have closed schools, colleges, and Anganwadi centers in Satna for several days to ensure safety. The meteorological department has issued alerts for extremely heavy rainfall in several other districts, including Sidhi, Panna, Katni, and Rewa, warning of continued high water levels and potential further damage.
