Madiha Khair to resign from Moroccan Parliament

Madiha Khair, a Member of Parliament representing the Istiqlal Party, is expected to resign from her seat in the House of Representatives. This move follows her dismissal from government duties just two days after her appointment.

The dismissal occurred after Prime Minister Fatima Zahra Mansouri requested her removal, which was subsequently approved by King Mohammed VI. The decision followed public controversy involving social media discussions regarding past judicial files and medical documents dating back to 2004.

Khair, who secured a significant electoral victory in the Beni Mellal constituency with over 21,000 votes, is reportedly stepping down at the request of the Istiqlal Party leadership to manage the political fallout. If the resignation is finalized, the parliamentary seat will be filled by the runner-up from the party's list in her electoral district.
