Dismissal of Madiha Khair from Moroccan government

Overview

Madiha Khair, a member of the Istiqlal Party, was removed from her position as Minister Delegate for Vocational Training and Qualification only 48 hours after her appointment. King Mohammed VI accepted the request for her removal from Head of Government Fatima Zahra Mansouri.

The dismissal followed social media controversy regarding Khair’s alleged judicial past, including reports involving legal proceedings in Beni Mellal and the circulation of medical documents. Government spokesperson Samir Belfkih stated the decision was based on a “political and institutional assessment” shared by majority parties.

Following her removal from the ministry, Khair is expected to resign her seat in the House of Representatives at the request of the Istiqlal Party leadership to manage political fallout. If the resignation is finalized, her parliamentary seat will be filled by the runner-up from her party’s list in the Beni Mellal-Khenifra region.
