Madiun official testifies on Rp2.5 billion project fee corruption

During a corruption trial at the Surabaya Tipikor Court, Thariq Megah, the Head of the Madiun City Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR), testified regarding the collection of tactical funds derived from project fees.

Thariq, acting as a key witness for the defendant and inactive Mayor of Madiun, Maidi, stated that approximately Rp2.5 billion in project fees was collected in 2025. He testified that the practice of collecting these fees was a long-standing habit driven by instructions from superiors.

According to the testimony, the funds were distributed among various parties, including law enforcement agencies. Specifically, Thariq alleged that roughly Rp1 billion was allocated to the local police (Polres), Rp500 million to the regional police (Polda), and between Rp800 million to Rp900 million to the prosecutor's office.
