Madoka Magica sequel premieres in theaters after 13-year hiatus

The new Madoka Magica film, ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht Rising’, has officially premiered in theaters following several delays. This release marks the first new film in the series in approximately 13 years, serving as a direct sequel to the 2013 film ‘Rebellion’.

In Japan, the release is accompanied by various promotional activities, including a special edition of ‘anan’ magazine featuring exclusive illustrations by Kazuki Kawada and interviews with key cast members such as Aoi Yuki and Chiwa Saito. Taito is also offering large-scale character plushies for pre-order.

In Taiwan, the film's release on September 4 is supported by pop-up stores at various Vie Show Cinemas in Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung, offering over 60 types of limited-edition merchandise. Official organizers have also requested that fans refrain from disclosing plot details online to preserve the viewing experience for others.
