Madonie manna featured at Zagara d’Autunno exhibition

The 31st edition of Zagara d’Autunno, held at the Botanical Garden of the University of Palermo, featured an exhibition titled ‘La manna dei frassini tra mito, paesaggio, saperi e tradizioni’. The event highlighted the traditional production of manna from ash trees, a practice central to the local economy and culture of the Madonie region.

Representatives from the Madonie Park Authority, including official Peppuccio Bonomo, and the mayors of Castelbuono and Pollina attended the event. The exhibition detailed the production process, from tree care to harvesting, using historical documents and traditional tools. The Madonie Park Authority has supported the industry through research on varietal germplasm and product characteristics in collaboration with the University of Palermo.
